Tamil Nadu Tamil Nadu: Taking major action against corruption in Tamil Nadu, the Anti-Corruption and Vigilance Department suddenly raided 60 registrar offices across the state. During this action, unaccounted cash worth Rs 37.75 lakh was seized from 46 offices.
According to the information, a total of 589 sub-registrar offices are functioning in the state under Tamil Nadu Deeds Registration Department. For some time, the department was receiving many complaints related to bribery and corruption against these offices. On the basis of these complaints, the Anti-Corruption and Vigilance Department is continuously investigating the cases.
The situation was particularly critical on Thursday, when a large number of tokens were issued at offices for deed registration. Meanwhile, the department received indications that there was unusually high cash flow in some registrar offices and there could be irregularities in the transactions.
On this basis, Director of Anti-Corruption and Vigilance Department and ADGP A. Arun ordered a surprise inspection of those registrar offices across the state where the maximum number of tokens were issued and cash transactions were likely to be high. Soon after the order, special teams were deployed and simultaneous raids were conducted in 60 registrar offices in the state.
The raid lasted for several hours, with officials thoroughly examining documents, cash records and registration procedures. During this period, unaccounted cash worth Rs 37.75 lakh was recovered from 46 offices. The authorities have seized this amount and further investigation has been initiated.
According to sources, there have been indications of lack of transparency and suspicious activities in the transaction process in many offices. The department is now investigating how this amount was collected and which employees or agents may have played a role in it.
The Anti-Corruption Department has said that this action is part of the ongoing strict campaign against corruption. The objective of the department is to ensure transparency in government offices and provide services to the public without any illegal transactions.
Experts believe that such action in registrar offices is expected to improve the government recording and property registration system. Also, this will help in curbing bribery and irregularities in future.
The department has also indicated that similar surprise checks may be conducted in other districts in the coming days, to ensure transparency and accountability in the entire system.
Overall, this major raid on registrar offices in Tamil Nadu reflects the administration’s strict action against corruption and is considered an important step towards increasing discipline and transparency in the government system.
