Special Assistant Inspector Suspended in Tiruppur for Accepting Bribe
Tamil Nadu: In the Tiruppur district, the police department has taken strict action—suspending a Special Assistant Police Inspector—following the emergence of a bribery case involving the officer. The accused officer is alleged to have accepted a bribe of ₹200; a video of the incident subsequently went viral on social media.
According to reports, Mohan, a Special Assistant Inspector posted at the Nallur Police Station in Tiruppur, was conducting a routine vehicle inspection drive on Tuesday morning in the Pudupalayam area along Kangayam Road. During this operation, he stopped a vehicle transporting sheep (goats) and proceeded to inspect it.
Upon examining the vehicle’s documents during the inspection, it was discovered that the vehicle lacked a valid Pollution Control Certificate. Allegedly using this deficiency as grounds, the police officer accepted a bribe of ₹200 from the vehicle’s driver, who was a farmer.
Sheep traders present at the scene at the time of the incident recorded the entire interaction on video and shared it on social media. As the video rapidly went viral, the matter reached the attention of senior police officials, causing a stir within the department.
Taking the incident seriously, City Police Commissioner S. Rajendran initiated immediate action. He issued an order suspending Special Assistant Inspector Mohan. The police department stated that such conduct would not be tolerated under any circumstances and that strict action would be taken in accordance with departmental regulations.
Locally, this incident has become a subject of widespread discussion. The general public and motorists alike have expressed their outrage over the event, demanding that the police department uphold standards of transparency and integrity.
