Jalandhar: Initiative to enhance digital skills of visually impaired students

Jalandhar: A 10-day specialized digital training program was organized for visually impaired students in Jalandhar. The purpose of this training was to equip them with skills in digital tools and technologies, enabling them to become more independent and self-reliant in their education and career paths. During this 10-day training, students were taught how to use computers, the internet, e-learning platforms, mobile applications, and other digital tools. Trainers also guided students on digital security, data protection, and online communication methods. More than 50 visually impaired students participated in the training program. Each student was provided with personalized assistance and technical support to help them easily understand and use digital tools. Trainers also taught students practical methods of using various software and applications. The organizers stated that this initiative allows visually impaired students to participate more fully in education and career opportunities. They explained that knowledge of digital skills boosts students’ self-confidence and enables them to compete equally in society. During the training, students practiced various online tools and platforms. They reported that the program had given them greater comfort and self-reliance in using computer and mobile technology. Many students expressed that they could now easily access online education, job search, and other digital services.
Local officials and social organizations praised the program, stating that such training programs are an important step toward empowering visually impaired students in society. They also announced plans to expand such digital training to more students in the future. Teachers and trainers were attentive to the individual needs of the students during the program, educating them on the safe and effective use of digital devices and resolving their issues. This initiative not only enhanced the students’ technical capabilities but also inspired them to become self-reliant and active members of society. At the end of the program, students were awarded digital certificates, recognizing their achievements and learning.
