Ban on Picnics Along Highway in Dibang Valley

Arunachal Pradesh: The District Administration of Dibang Valley in Arunachal Pradesh has prohibited camping, cooking, and picnicking along the National and State Highways within the district to prevent traffic obstructions and ensure public safety.

This prohibitory order was issued on March 16, 2026, by District Magistrate Bekir Nyorak under Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
According to the order, the administration had received reports indicating that certain tourists and individuals were engaging in activities such as camping, cooking, and picnicking along the highways. Allegedly, such activities were giving rise to issues including traffic congestion, public nuisance, littering, and an increased risk of road accidents.

In light of these concerns, the District Administration has, with immediate effect, banned camping, cooking, and picnicking along the National and State Highways in Dibang Valley.

The order states that this measure has been taken to ensure the smooth movement of vehicles, uphold public safety, and promote responsible tourism within the district.

Officials have also warned that strict legal action will be initiated under the relevant provisions of the law against any individual found violating this directive.

Meanwhile, the Superintendent of Police, Dibang Valley, has been directed to ensure the strict enforcement of this order throughout the district.
