Airline Ops Hit By Navitaire Outage In India Europe Check Ins At Delhi Airport Impacted

Navitaire: Flight services were disrupted at airports in Europe as well as Delhi and Mumbai due to a technical glitch in the Navitaire system. Thousands of passengers were affected. This situation arose due to a technical glitch in the Navitaire system for about 45 minutes.

The technical glitch occurred at 6.45 am on Thursday at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in the national capital Delhi. The problem was detected in the NaviTer system used by airlines for booking and check-in. It was resolved within an hour. But during this time, the staff had to handle booking and check-in manually. This led to a huge increase in congestion.

A similar situation was seen in Mumbai. The technical glitch affected the services of IndiGo, Akasha Air and Air India Express. Navitair provides crucial airline technology for reservations, check-in and boarding. If it fails, it will disrupt the processing of passenger details. This will lead to delays and congestion.

Last November, more than 800 flights were delayed due to a technical glitch in Delhi’s air traffic control system. Delhi airport, the country’s busiest, handles 1,500 flights a day, compared to 1,000 at Mumbai airport.
