Khammam Ward 3: Congress Loses by 17, Recount Ordered

There was a tense situation at the municipal vote counting center in Khammam district’s Edulapuram. The counting of votes was underway for a total of 16 wards. However, in the third ward, the Congress candidate lost to an independent candidate by a margin of 17 votes, but a recount was conducted as per the instructions of the Congress candidate. However, the victory of the independent candidate was officially declared as the difference was only 17 votes. However, in the first ward, the BRS party candidate lost to the Congress party candidate by a margin of 5 votes. Similarly, in the 18th ward, the BRS party candidate lost to the Congress candidate by a narrow margin of 8 votes.

The BRS candidates, who lost by a small margin, repeatedly appealed to the officials to count the ballots again, but the officials did not pay attention. This angered the counting agents on behalf of the contesting candidates. Upon learning of this, BRS and CPM party workers reached the counting center in large numbers and staged a dharna for about an hour, expressing strong protest. As Congress party workers also reached there in large numbers, a tense atmosphere suddenly prevailed. The police entered the scene and are trying to control the BRS workers.
