A masked man snatched a woman’s ‘mangalsutra’ inside a lift at AIIMS Bhopal.
Maharashtra: A woman’s gold chain was snatched inside a lift at AIIMS Bhopal on Sunday evening, raising serious concerns about women’s safety even in high-security healthcare institutions.
A CCTV video of the incident, recorded by a camera inside the lift, surfaced on Monday and clearly shows how the crime unfolded.
The CCTV footage shows a young man, wearing a mask and a cap, approaching the lift and first checking if anyone else was inside. Finding the woman alone, he entered the lift. The video shows the man looking around and repeatedly glancing at the woman, seemingly waiting for the right opportunity. He then started a conversation with her, asking which floor the eye department was on.
The lift went up and stopped on the third floor. When the lift doors opened, the man stepped out first and waited near the doorway. As the woman moved to exit the lift, the man suddenly turned back, grabbed her neck, and snatched her gold necklace.
