Meghalaya: BJP is eyeing 8-10 seats in the GHADC elections, Sanbor Shullai appeals to voters.

SHILLONG: Meghalaya BJP’s senior MLA and cabinet minister Sanbor Shullai said on Thursday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is expecting a significant victory in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) elections this year, as the party is intensifying its organizational preparations and grassroots outreach across the region. Expressing confidence ahead of the polls, Shullai termed the district council elections a crucial political test and said the BJP is seeking a fresh mandate based on the transformative development witnessed over the past decade under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the successive MDA governments in Meghalaya. He appealed to voters to make a conscious comparison between the past and the present.

Outlining the party’s roadmap, Shullai said, “We are preparing, and applications have been invited. We are hopeful that this time we will win eight to ten seats in the GHADC elections. In the district council or MP elections, people should consider the good work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the last 10 years. Across the country and in Meghalaya as well, many development initiatives have been undertaken.”

Speaking about performance-based evaluation, he said, “People should see what was there 46 years ago and what has been achieved in the last 10 years since the formation of MDA I and MDA II. People have witnessed many development schemes, especially in the road connectivity sector and highway development.”

Pointing to the visible changes at the local level, Shullai said, “Even in my constituency and New Shillong, many major projects are coming up.”

Emphasizing the party’s election campaign, he said, “The party’s Garo Hills District Council leadership and workers are overseeing the election campaign. As an MLA, it is my duty to visit every constituency and campaign vigorously.”
