Chennai: Security guard arrested for attempting to assault student

Chennai: A 42-year-old private security guard has been arrested for allegedly attempting to assault a Plus 2 student at her home in KK Nagar. The incident occurred approximately two months ago. The student was alone at home when the accused, who claimed to be an acquaintance of her parents, entered the house. He grabbed her hand and attempted to attack her. The girl raised an alarm, causing the man to flee. Upon returning from work, she informed her mother about the incident. The family subsequently obtained crucial CCTV footage from a nearby camera, which captured the suspect.
The case took a crucial turn on Monday when the girl’s mother, who was at home, saw the same man from the CCTV recording enter her home again. The mother immediately raised an alarm, prompting neighbors to rush to her aid. They managed to subdue and apprehend the intruder and then handed him over to the KK Nagar police station. He was later transferred to the Vadapalani police station for further investigation. The accused has been identified as Ganesan (42), a resident of Saligramam. Police said he works for a private security company and is the father of two daughters. Legal action has been initiated under two stringent sections of the BNS. Police said Ganesan has a previous arrest record under the Women’s Harassment Act, indicating prior similar offenses.
