Tamil Nadu DMK is a corporate party: EPS

AIADMK General Secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) on Monday launched a sharp attack on the ruling DMK, branding it a “corporate party” that functions only to serve big business interests while neglecting the needs of ordinary people.
Addressing party cadres, EPS alleged that the DMK leadership is more concerned about appeasing corporates and private companies than addressing the everyday problems faced by the public. He asserted that the AIADMK remains the true party of the people, rooted in the aspirations of the poor, middle class, and farming community.
“DMK does not work for the people; it works only for corporates. AIADMK is the party of the poor, the middle class, and farmers,” EPS said, drawing loud applause from party workers.
Criticising the performance of the DMK government, EPS accused it of price rise, excessive taxation, and administrative failure. He claimed that essential commodities have become costlier, placing an additional financial burden on households, while law and order has deteriorated across the state.
The AIADMK leader also questioned the implementation of welfare schemes under the DMK regime. According to him, while the government makes frequent announcements, many schemes fail to reach beneficiaries on the ground. In contrast, EPS said that during the AIADMK’s tenure, welfare measures were effectively implemented and directly benefited people.
“During the AIADMK government, schemes reached people without discrimination. Today, there are only announcements, not action,” he alleged.
Highlighting the party’s grassroots strength, EPS said AIADMK cadres remain deeply connected with the people and understand their day-to-day struggles. He contrasted this with what he described as the DMK’s top-down approach to governance.
“AIADMK is not run from air-conditioned rooms. It is built on cadre strength and people’s trust,” he said, urging party workers to intensify their outreach and expose what he called the DMK government’s failures.
EPS concluded by reaffirming that the AIADMK would continue to fight for people’s rights and position itself as a strong alternative focused on inclusive development and welfare-driven governance in Tamil Nadu.
