Congress rings doorbells at MPs’ and MLAs’ homes over water-related deaths in Indore

Madhya Pradesh: Congress leaders held “ring the bell” protests across the state on Sunday over the Indore water supply incident, which claimed 16 lives.

Protesters alleged that the deaths due to poor water supply in Indore’s Bhagirathpura area were the result of administrative negligence and corruption by the ruling BJP. On Saturday, State Congress President Jitu Patwari announced that party leaders and workers would “ring the bell” to awaken the “sleeping government.” State General Secretary Sanjay Kamle said that Congress workers held rallies carrying bells and rang them outside the homes of BJP MPs and MLAs. The party will continue to protest outside the homes of MPs and MLAs who were not found at home on Sunday.

Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath also attacked the state government over the Indore accident and other issues. He said, “After the Indore incident, instead of apologizing, the ruling party is attacking Congress leaders. The truth is that corruption is rampant from top to bottom, and there is negligence in government work.”
