Through the Bihaan scheme, Shanti Dugga became self-reliant.

Narayanpur. Shanti Dugga, a resident of Kurushnar village in Orchha block of Narayanpur district, has become a shining example of self-reliance. A member of the Roshni Self-Help Group and associated with the Pratigya Village Organization, Shanti Dugga has strengthened her family’s financial situation through the Bihan scheme.
Shanti Dugga joined the self-help group on August 19, 2019. Previously, her family’s main source of livelihood was agriculture and collecting forest produce, which provided only limited income. After joining the group, she started saving regularly. The group received a revolving fund of Rs. 15,000 and a community investment fund of Rs. 60,000 from the government, which helped the group members develop an understanding of mutual lending and financial management.
Through bank linkage, Shanti Dugga took a loan of Rs. 1 lakh from the group and started a grocery store business. Later, she took another loan of Rs. 2.70 lakh and started a clothing business. To expand her business activities, she also purchased a pickup truck. With the income generated, she consistently repaid the loan installments and interest on time.
Due to continuous progress in her business, Shanti Dugga took a third loan of Rs. 6 lakh from the group and purchased a tractor. Today, her family’s annual income has reached Rs. 4 to 5 lakh, resulting in a significant improvement in their financial condition.
Shanti Dugga says that thanks to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s Bihan scheme, her entire family is now able to live a happy life. She is able to provide her children with a good education and better healthcare facilities. Shanti Dugga’s success story is becoming an inspiration for rural women.
