Cold weather and snowfall are likely to increase in Coimbatore.

Tamil Nadu: According to reports, the cold wave and frost are expected to intensify in the Coimbatore metropolitan area next week, leading to a further drop in temperature.

Since the end of November, the cold has intensified in Coimbatore and its surrounding areas. Frost and cold conditions are more pronounced during the mornings and nights.

Private meteorologist Santhosh Krishna said: In December 2020, the temperature in Coimbatore city was recorded at 17.2 degrees Celsius on one day. ​​Following this, a temperature of 17.14 degrees Celsius was recorded at the Coimbatore airport area on Saturday morning.

Similarly, on Saturday, temperatures recorded in other parts of Coimbatore included 12.6 degrees Celsius at Polluvampatti, 12.8 degrees Celsius at Thennamanallur, 14.3 degrees Celsius at Kanuvai, 14.3 degrees Celsius at Vedapatti, and 8.5 degrees Celsius at Valparai. The temperature in Coimbatore is expected to remain around 17 degrees Celsius until the 29th of this month, after which it will likely drop further.

In the hilly villages adjacent to Coimbatore, the temperature will remain below 13 degrees Celsius. He added that a slight increase in temperature is expected from the 29th to January 1st.
