Punjab Chief Minister wasting taxpayers’ money on foreign tours: LOP Bajwa

Punjab: Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Pratap Singh Bajwa, on Monday targeted Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, accusing him of misusing government funds to repeatedly undertake foreign trips under the guise of attracting investment. Bajwa emphasized that Mann is planning another 10-day trip to Japan to woo investors. He pointed out that CM Mann has previously visited several countries, including Germany and Australia, under similar pretexts, yet these trips have yielded no concrete investment results. He demanded that the Aam Aadmi Party government provide concrete figures on foreign investment received from these major trips, asserting that the public deserves transparency.

Bajwa reminded the public of Mann’s earlier claim of a large investment in BMW during his visit to Germany, which was later disproven. According to Bajwa, such misleading announcements have eroded public confidence in the government’s foreign efforts. The senior Congress leader further warned that Punjab’s economic situation is rapidly deteriorating, blaming the AAP government’s financial mismanagement for the crisis. He said that even daily administrative work is being funded through heavy borrowing, while the state’s outstanding debt continues to mount.
