Raipur: Mobile phone of a girl returning from clinic duty snatched, 2 arrested

Raipur. Shahzad Ali and Sonu Nishad, accused of robbing mobile phones from passers-by, have been arrested. On 07.11.2025, the complainant was going on foot from her residence Yaduvanshi Chowk Hirapur to Dr. Narendra Bhuwal’s clinic for duty. She had reached beyond Yaduvanshi Chowk when at around 09:50 a.m. she received a call from her clinic. She was talking on the phone after receiving the call. At that very moment, a motorcycle came from behind and the rider snatched her Oppo A3 Pro mobile phone. She could not see the number of the motorcycle Passion Pro and it was being driven by a boy who had a cloth tied on his face. He took the mobile phone and ran towards Ganpat Chowk. On the complaint of the complainant, a crime was registered and taken into investigation.

Under the guidance of senior officers and under the leadership of the Kabir Nagar police station in-charge, the Kabir Nagar police team inspected the scene of the incident and began investigating the unknown accused by conducting detailed inquiries with the applicant and those around him. The team members also reviewed CCTV footage from the scene and its surroundings, and also engaged informants in the case to identify the unknown accused. Meanwhile, the team members identified the accused as Shahzad Ali, resident of Ravanbhata Sports Ground, near Khamtarai Police Station, and Sonu Nishad, resident of Hardelal Chowk, Ravanbhata, Khamtarai Police Station, Raipur. After tracing and arresting them, they seized the stolen Oppo mobile phones from their possession, along with 13 stolen mobile phones from various locations in the city, and the motorcycle used in the crime, Passion Pro, bearing registration numbers CG-04 and MN-3262, worth ₹1,41,000. The accused were arrested and presented before the Honorable Court.

  1. Shahzad Ali, son of Mustaq Ali, age 30, resident of village Kamariya, Maudaha Police Station, Hamirpur District, Uttar Pradesh, currently residing near Ramabhata Sports Ground, Khamtarai Police Station, Raipur District.
  2. Sonu Nishad, son of Nandu Nishad, age 25, resident of Hardelal Chowk, Ravanbhata, Khamtarai Police Station, Raipur District.
