International Drone Photography Competition: Youth from Sivaganga wins prize

Tamil Nadu: A young man from Sivaganga district recently set a record by winning third prize in the International Drone Photography Competition held in Dubai.

Shanthakumar (24) hails from Thiruppuvanam in Sivaganga district. Passionate about photography, he purchased his own drone camera in 2015 and trained himself to operate it, achieving mastery. Since then, he has traveled the world recording footage with his drone camera.

As such, he secured third place in the HIPAA International Photography Competition for Drone Photographers held in Dubai on the 11th, winning a prize of US$20,000.

Shanthakumar said:

After learning about the competition in Dubai from a friend, I applied. In this competition, I submitted a collection of footage recorded about the development of people in villages, cities, states, and even space in 143 countries.

I, who came from India, won third prize in the drone category in a competition held in six categories. The first prize went to a woman from America, and the second prize went to a woman from Norway.

My dream is to travel around the world and capture beautiful landscapes with a drone, making India and Tamil Nadu proud. The Tamil Nadu government should promote artists like me, he said.
