Bhadrak truck driver kidnapping mentally challenged woman: accused arrested, victim woman rescued

Bhadrak: In the case of a truck driver kidnapping a mentally challenged woman in Bhadrak district of Odisha and sexually assaulting her, Police have arrested the culprit and rescued the victim woman. The truck has also been seized.
The accused truck driver has been identified as Md. Saddam Hussain. He is originally from Jharkhand and was driving the truck of Chittaranjan Pradhan of Jhumpura area for the last 4 months.
The victim woman has been rescued from Raandiya area under Bhadrak Rural Police Station.
It is to be noted that the driver Saddam Hussain forcibly kidnapped the lady in a film style while she was standing near a closed shop the day before yesterday. The whole incident had been recorded on CCTV.
On the day of the incident, Saddam Hussain was returning from Dhamra to Keonjhar when he kidnapped the mentally challenged woman from Charampa area in Bhadrak.
After knowing about the crime, Police formed three teams and searched for the culprit as well as the victim.
A special team of Bhadrak Town Police seized the truck after conducting a search in Jhumpura, Badabil, Joda areas of Keonjhar district. Later, the driver was also arrested.
As per police, the driver has confessed to the police that he had sexually assaulted the woman.
The mentally challenged victim woman was living in different places in Bhadrak for a few years. Although she could not say anything properly, a social worker who came to know about her said that the driver misbehaved her.
Police have sent the arrested accused. The accused and the victim have been sent to Bhadrak Hospital for medical examination. Further investigation of the case is underway. This was informed by the Additional SP at a press conference held at Bhadrak Town Police Station today.
