Himachal: Former Congress spokesperson returns to the saffron party

Himachal Pradesh: In a jolt to the ruling Congress, former party spokesperson Kushal Jethi today rejoined the BJP in the presence of state party president Rajiv Bindal. Making the announcement before media persons, Bindal said, “Jethi has returned to the same family he originally joined.” BJP leaders, including district party president Rattan Pal and Solan city president Shailendra Gupta, welcomed Jethi into the party fold and put on him the party’s angavastra. Bindal expressed hope that Jethi will contribute to the party like before and wished him all the best for the future. Responding to questions from media persons, Jethi said, “Politics is a medium of service for me, but I have seen that the ruling party is disintegrating in the last nearly three-year tenure of the Congress government in the state.” He said, “Till date, none of the grievances of party workers have been resolved, as since the dissolution of the entire Congress party about a year ago, the Congress has no state, district or block level organisation. There are no meetings being held to address the grievances of party functionaries, who are unable to get even small works done.” He further said, “I have returned to the BJP, as this is the only political party where the public can be served.” Jethi alleged that Health Minister Dr Shandil, who is also the local MLA, is a weak leader because of his lax attitude. He said that Shandil has failed to contribute to the Congress and prefers to stay away from party functionaries. Jethi joined the Congress ahead of the Solan Municipal Corporation elections in 2021. When asked about his allegations against the BJP leadership for leaving the party, Jethi hesitated and said that he believes in making a new beginning.
