Tamil Nadu: Top police stations will receive the Chief Minister’s Trophy today

Chennai: As part of Tamil Nadu Police Day celebrations, Tamil Nadu Police will award the Chief Minister’s Trophy to the best performing police stations in the state on Saturday. The function will be held at the conference hall of the DGP office in Chennai and will be presided over by Director General of Police (DGP)-in-charge G. Venkataraman. This is his first official function after taking over as the state police chief. These awards, sanctioned earlier by the state government, are designed to recognise excellence in efficiency, public service and commitment to law and order.

Three trophies have already been awarded to police stations in Madurai, Tiruppur and Tiruttani on Republic Day, while the remaining trophies will be presented to one best performing station each in every district and commissionerate at an upcoming event. DGP Venkataraman will present these honours on behalf of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. Station House Officers (SHOs) of all the winning stations have been directed to report to the DGP office by 9 am on Saturday to receive their awards. The major awardees include four Greater Chennai Police stations: Muthialpet, Maduravoyal, Ice House and Madipakkam. Other city-level winners include Shankar Nagar (Tambaram), Ennore (Avadi), Kattur (Coimbatore), Fort L&O (Tiruchi), Annadhanpatti (Salem) and Perumalpuram (Tirunelveli).
