Punjab: Bikram Majithia’s judicial custody extended

Punjab: A Mohali court on Thursday extended the judicial custody of Bikram Singh Majithia till September 6 in a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act. His application for change of barrack will be heard on August 30. The court has fixed September 2 as the date on which Majithia’s lawyer will be provided a copy of the chargesheet filed by the Vigilance Bureau.
The Vigilance Bureau had filed a 40,000-page chargesheet against the SAD leader on August 22. Prosecution lawyer PIP Singh said statements of over 200 witnesses have been recorded and 400 bank accounts have been unearthed during the investigation. Majithia is currently lodged in New Nabha jail near Patiala.
