Palampur: Empowering armed forces through skill-based training

Himachal Pradesh: A 16-week training programme on “Dairy, Poultry and Value Added Dairy Products” for 28 personnel of the Indian Armed Forces concluded at Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (CSK HPKV), Palampur on Friday. The course, which commenced on April 7, 2025, was attended by eight participants each from the Indian Army and Navy and 12 from the Indian Air Force. Dean of the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Dr AK Panda officiated as the chief guest at the closing ceremony. Director Rehabilitation (Northern Region) Col Pradeep Karki also joined the event virtually and appreciated the university’s initiative to provide skill-based training to armed forces personnel and prepare them for livelihood after retirement.

In a special message, Vice Chancellor Prof Naveen Kumar congratulated the participants and encouraged them to consider entrepreneurship in the dairy and poultry sectors, pointing out their potential for sustainable income and self-reliance. Director Extension Education Dr Vinod Sharma welcomed the guests and trainees. He emphasized on the growing scope of dairy entrepreneurship and urged the participants to start their own venture using the knowledge and skills acquired during the training. Course Incharge Dr. Luv Bhushan presented an overview of the training program which included both theoretical and practical learning. Course coordinators Dr. B.G. Mane, Dr. Krishnendra, Dr. Dinesh Karofa, Dr. Masim Raza and Dr. Nishant Verma were also present on the occasion. The program concluded with an interactive session and feedback from the participants.
