Liquor smuggling caught in the siege of Kotrarod police, 2 accused arrested

Raigarh. Raigarh. On the directions of Superintendent of Police Divyang Patel, continuous action is being taken against illegal liquor transportation in the district. In this episode, on Saturday, July 12, under the leadership of Inspector in-charge of Kotrarod police station, two liquor smugglers were caught red-handed with a motorcycle by laying a siege near Babadham Kosmanara Tiraha on the information of an informer. The police station in-charge had received information that two persons in a black motorcycle were going from Raigarh to village Jorapali with illegal liquor. On receiving the information, the police team promptly left for the spot and a siege was laid near Babadham Kosmanara Tiraha.

After some time, as per the information given by the informer, two suspicious persons were seen coming in a black motorcycle, who were carrying a yellow plastic bag. The police stopped them and questioned them, in which the motorcyclist told his name as Ghurau Kanwar father Gulal Singh Kanwar (age 40 years) and the person sitting behind told his name as Ashok Kanwar father Brijlal Kanwar (age 50 years), both residents of village Kalmi police station Kotrarod. On searching, 31 quarters of country liquor were recovered from the bag kept with them, whose estimated value is ₹ 2,860. Along with this, the motorcycle number CG13AG9112 (₹ 40,000) used in transporting liquor was also seized. Action has been taken against both the accused in Kotrarod police station under crime number 291/2025 section 34 (2), 59 (a) Chhattisgarh Excise Act. Head constable Karunesh Rai, constable Sandeep Kaushik and accompanying staff played a commendable role in this action. Such actions being continuously taken by the police are leading to success in effectively controlling illicit liquor smuggling in the area.
