Punjab: Nihang chops off hands of youth for consuming drugs

Punjab: A young Nihang allegedly chopped off both hands of a youth, who he believes had consumed some intoxicating substance, leaving both his hands hanging in a pool of blood. The injured youth has been identified as Jatin Walia, 24, a resident of Master Colony, Mandi Gobindgarh. The attacker has been identified as Karambir Singh alias Lovely Nihang, a resident of Mandi Gobindgarh. The injured was rushed to the civil hospital in Mandi Gobindgarh but was later referred to Chandigarh.
Manpreet Singh Deol, SHO Mandi Gobindgarh, informed that on the primary statement of the victim Jatin Walia, police have registered a case against Karambir Singh alias Lovely Nihang under sections 109, 115(2), 118(1) of the BNS and police teams have been formed to arrest him. He said that according to the preliminary investigation, there was a heated argument between the two and the reason behind the incident will be known only after the arrest of the accused. Meanwhile, the head of the Budha Dal sect, Baba Balbir Singh, has distanced his sect from the nefarious activities of such fake Nihangs. He said that such people defame their sacred Sikh attire.
