Judge Janarthanam passes away! – Chief Minister expresses condolence

Tamil Nadu: Retired Supreme Court judge M.S. Jananathanam (89) died in Chennai due to ill-health. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced that police honours will be accorded at his funeral. Jananathanam was a judge of the Madras High Court from 1988 to 1998. After that, he served as the chairman of the Tamil Nadu Backward Classes Commission from 2006 to 2015. It was on his recommendation that Tamil Nadu implemented 3.5 per cent internal reservation for Muslims and 3 per cent for Arunachal Pradesh. Chief Minister’s condolences: ‘I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the demise of retired Justice M.S. Jananathanam. He upheld the dignity and great tradition of the judiciary. When he was the chairman of the Tamil Nadu Backward Classes Commission, he prepared and submitted a report to confirm the Tamil Nadu government’s reservation for backward classes. His demise is an irreparable loss not only to the judiciary but to all those working on the ideological platform of social justice,’ he said.

Apart from this, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has said in his condolence message that his last rites will be performed with honours by the police department.
