MBBS application registration begins today: No additional medical seats this year

Tamil Nadu : There is no increase in MBBS and BDS seats in Tamil Nadu this year. Since the Public Health Department has not applied to the National Medical Commission for new seats, only 11,350 seats will be filled this year as last year. Registration for undergraduate medical courses is starting from Friday (June 6). It has been told that students can submit applications even without NEET exam scores and the State Directorate of Medical Education will receive the scores from the National Testing Agency. No increase in seats: There are 5,200 MBBS seats in 36 government medical colleges in Tamil Nadu and KK Nagar ESI Medical College in Chennai. Of these, 888 seats are offered for All India quota. Apart from this, there are 3,450 seats in self-financed colleges and 550 seats in private medical universities for MBBS courses. A total of 9,200 MBBS seats are being offered in government and private colleges. Out of this, 496 seats are being given to government school students under 7.5 percent quota. As far as BDS seats are concerned, there are 250 seats in government medical colleges and 1,900 seats in private colleges. Of this, 126 seats are reserved for government school students.
Medical Education Students Union officials have said that like last year, this year too student unions will be organised for 11,350 medical seats and no new seats will be added.
