Red alert for 11 districts of Kerala: Holiday declared in schools

Kerala : A red alert has been issued in 11 districts of Kerala for extremely heavy rains on Monday.
The southwest monsoon has set in early in Kerala and heavy rains have been lashing Kerala for the last two days, disrupting normal life in various districts.
In such a situation, a red alert has been issued for extremely heavy rains in 11 districts on Monday.
Accordingly, a red alert has been issued for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts, while an orange alert has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Alappuzha districts.
Due to bad weather, the district collectors have declared a holiday for educational institutions in Idukki, Kannur, Kasaragod, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Ernakulam, Kottayam and Pathanamthitta today.
Meanwhile, it is reported that university examinations and PSC examinations will be held as per schedule, except for Kannur University.
