Government should implement plan to eliminate chromium waste: Anbumani

Tamil Nadu : PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss has demanded that the Tamil Nadu government immediately implement the plan to remove chromium waste in Ranipet. His statement about this: The Tamil Nadu Chromates and Chemicals factory started in 1975 at Ranipet Chipkot was closed in 1989 after various changes. The plant has a stock of 2.50 lakh tonnes of chromium. The permanent solution to this problem is to remove the chromium waste stored there and address its effects on soil and water. According to the plan prepared 6 years ago, it was estimated to cost Rs 223.17 crore on removing chromium waste and cleaning the area and Rs 11.28 crore on removing chromium pollutants found in water. Apart from this, experts have also said that Rs 11.28 crore will cost Rs 1.55 crore per month continuously for 10 years to completely remove chromium contaminants from water.

This will be a permanent solution to this problem. Therefore, he said the Tamil Nadu government should immediately implement a plan to permanently remove chromium waste.
