The Meteorological Centre has issued an orange alert for Tenkasi district for two days, Sunday and Monday (May 25, 26). Therefore, those living near water bodies and low-lying areas should follow the following instructions to stay safe.
During heavy rains, bathing in water bodies including rivers, standing outdoors during thunderstorms, bathing in water bodies and standing under trees or metal structures should be avoided.
Animals should not be tied in areas where rainwater accumulates. Animals should be moved to safer places before floods occur. Residents living in low-lying areas and on the banks of water bodies should move to safer places during floods.
Important documents including Aadhaar and family cards should be kept safe in plastic envelopes. It is important to keep essential items like torches and medicines with you during disasters. A 24-hour emergency control room is functioning at the Collector’s office to take action during disasters.
