Tumkur-Bengaluru Metro Rail connectivity will ease pressure on Bengaluru: Minister

Karnataka : The Tumkur-Bengaluru metro rail connection will ease the pressure on the state capital Bengaluru, Tumkur district in-charge minister Dr G Parameshwara said on Monday.

Speaking to reporters, he said a metro rail connection between Bengaluru and Tumkur was needed to ease the increasing pressure on the state capital and boost development activities in Tumkur.

After persuading the chief minister, the company was given an opportunity to prepare a feasibility report in the last budget. The Hyderabad-based company has prepared the feasibility report and submitted it to the government. He said the pros and cons are being examined.

He said, “Two MPs from Bengaluru have made meaningless statements about the Tumkur metro project. Tumkur has 20,000 acres of industrial land. It takes two hours to reach Tumkur by road. The metro train between the two cities will provide convenience to daily commuters. It will also reduce the increasing pressure on Bengaluru. The MPs are aware of international issues. Turkey and Tokyo have metro connections. There is a metro to connect one city to another. So we did not make fun of the metro. We should understand and make statements.”
