IGP Jammu reviews operational preparedness and structure to tackle cyber crime

Jammu : Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu, Bhim Sen Tuti Saturday conducted a thorough inspection of the Cyber Police Station, Jammu zone, to evaluate its operational readiness and infrastructure.

He issued directions to enhance Jammu zone’s cybercrime response and prevention capabilities.

IGP was accompanied by Jatinder Singh Johar, in-charge Director, Police Telecommunication, Jammu and Kameshwar Puri, in-charge Cyber Police Station along with other officers.

During the visit, the IGP reviewed pending cases, training of Investigating Officers (IOs), available infrastructure and requirements for advanced computer forensic software and hardware.

He assessed the station’s capabilities in handling cybercrimes like online fraud, hacking, and cyber-terrorism, while SP Kameshwar Puri briefed him on ongoing operations and challenges.

The IGP stressed the need for continuous skill upgradation, integration of advanced forensic tools, and real-time monitoring systems. Additionally, he emphasized public awareness campaigns on cyber safety and ordered improvements in infrastructure, including modern workstations and secure data storage.

Jatinder Singh Johar assured full technical support from the Police Telecommunication wing, while SP Puri reaffirmed the station’s commitment to leveraging technology for public service.
