Thane: 15 people attacked a person who was expelled from the city due to old enmity

Maharashtra : A man exiled from Thane was brutally attacked by a group of fifteen persons with sharp-edged weapons over an old rivalry in Thane on Saturday night. The injured has been identified as Sohail Khan, a Thane resident who was exiled from the city and was living in Nashik. According to the FIR, the injured Khan had come to Thane on Saturday to visit his grandmother who was admitted in Thane Civil Hospital. Later, he went to meet his friends in Thane. Police sources said the complaint was lodged by the injured Khan’s sister Afreen Shaikh. She said in the FIR that she received a call from Bhavesh Dhotre, who informed that Khan was lying in an injured state near Mamta Garage in Thane. Following this, she immediately rushed to the spot and found that the accusedâLokesh Gaikar, Tejash Gaikar, Viraj Kokate, Yash Rokade, Sujal and ten unidentified personsâwere allegedly brutally beating her brother with wooden sticks and sharp-edged weapons. They later fled from the spot.
Police sources said locals rushed to the spot and he was later rushed to a nearby hospital where he is undergoing treatment. Khan suffered serious injuries on his head and body and received 45 stitches. An FIR was registered against him under sections 118(2), 189(2), 190 and 191(2) of the Indian Penal Code, police said.
