Heavy rains likely in 7 districts today, slight drop in temperature in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu : Chennai Meteorological Department has said that heavy rains are expected in 7 districts of Tamil Nadu including Erode and Krishnagiri on Friday (May 16) and the temperature in Tamil Nadu will drop slightly for the next 4 days.

In this regard, a press release issued by the Center said that due to the existing atmospheric circulation in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu and adjoining areas, moderate rains with thunder, lightning and wind are likely at some places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from Friday (May 16) to May 21. Due to this, the maximum temperature will gradually decrease by up to 3 degrees Celsius at some places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal for the next 4 days.

Heavy rain: Heavy rain is likely at one or two places over Erode, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Vellore, Dharmapuri, Salem and Namakkal districts on May 16 and heavy rain is likely at one or two places over Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Pudukkottai, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Trichy, Salem, Kallakurichi, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur districts and Karaikal areas on May 17. Light rain is also likely over Chennai and Puducherry areas.

Rainfall: As of Thursday morning, the highest rainfall in Tamil Nadu was recorded at 90 mm at Thiruchengode in Namakkal district and Okenakkal in Dharmapuri district. Apart from this, Aroor (Dharmapuri), Annavasal (Pudukkottai) – 70 mm each, Senthamangalam (Namakkal), Iluppur (Pudukkottai), Kovilpatti (Trichy), Sankari Durgam (Salem), Mettupalayam (Coimbatore) – 50 mm each. 10 places affected by heat: The highest temperature in Tamil Nadu on Thursday was recorded at Parangipettai and Erode at 104 degrees Fahrenheit. It is also reported that Madurai Airport – 103.64, Tiruttani – 102.38, Vellore, Thanjavur – 102.2 each, Paramathivellur – 100.4, Trichy – 100.22, Cuddalore -100.04 degrees Fahrenheit.
