Mission Shakti in Odisha to be restructured for better impact: Dy CM

Bhubaneswar: ‘Mission Shakti’ in Odisha will be restructured for better impact, said Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Monday. Alleging that the previous government used this for political purpose, she also said that the Self Help Groups (SHGs) will be reorganised while president and secretaries will be changed.

The Deputy CM said that the central government has asked to link every family with a self-help group.

In the previous government, there were many deprived families. Women from certain groups were excluded.

Now the Mission Shakti department of the state government has started making efforts to link every house with the group.

Earlier, people were linked to the group for political purposes. Now everyone will get the opportunity to participate in the GPL elections.

Those who were previously presidents and secretaries will be removed and new people will be there. That means an effort will be made to create leadership at the grassroots level.

This month, the self-help groups will be reorganized. Next month, new appointments will be made to GPLF, CLF, BLF at the district level and state level. Those who have been there for more than 4 years twice will be changed.

The Deputy CM said that the previous government utilized this for political purposes for their votes. That is why there is no registration of SHG in the state. Crores of rupees have been given without registration. There is no audit because there is no registration.

Where there is no registration and no audit, what is the purpose? But now the new government will work for women’s development without any bias, she added.
