Major police action, 96 liters of illegal Mahua liquor seized

Raigarh. Under the direction of SP Divyang Patel and guidance of DSP Sushanto Banerjee, Kotrarod police took a big action against illegal liquor and raided Railway Line Para of Kirodimal Nagar and seized 96 liters of Mahua liquor. This action has created panic among illegal liquor traders in the area.

Police station in-charge Trinath Tripathi had received information from an informer that a person in Ward No. 14, Railway Line Para, Kirodimal Nagar was selling illegal Mahua liquor in the courtyard of his house. As soon as the information was received, the police team took immediate action and cordoned off the suspect’s house and raided it. A person was found on the spot, who told his name as Babu Singh Haiburu (father Devra Haiburu, age 40 years, resident of Jonuwa, Police Station Chakradharpur, District West Singhbhum, Jharkhand, present resident of Ward No. 14, Railway Line Para, Kirodimal Nagar, Police Station Kotrarod, District Raigarh) during interrogation. During interrogation, he admitted to selling illegal liquor.

During the raid, a total of 96 litres of Mahua liquor filled in plastic jerrycans and plastic bottles was recovered from the possession of the accused, which was hidden in a heap of bricks, and whose estimated value was ₹9,600. The police seized the liquor on the spot and arrested the accused. Earlier, no action was taken against the accused due to no liquor being recovered even after continuous police raids at his house, after which informers were activated again and concrete information was obtained, after which the raid was conducted. A case has been registered against the accused Babu Singh Haiburu in Kotrarod police station under sections 34(2), 59(a) of the Excise Act.
