Fire at medical college’s waste site, suspicion on antisocial elements
Korba. A sudden fire broke out in the district medical college campus. The fire in the medical waste site located behind the college campus created panic in the surrounding area. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the mortuary employee Damodar immediately informed the fire department. The fire brigade team reached the spot and controlled the fire.
The flames were spreading rapidly and were moving towards the nearby Sulabh toilet. If the fire was not controlled in time, it could have taken the form of a major accident. Initial investigation has raised the suspicion of anti-social elements being behind the fire. Fire incidents become common during the summer season, causing heavy loss of life and property.
To deal with such emergencies in the district, various institutions like Nagar Palika Nigam, Chhattisgarh Vidyut Utpadan Company, NTPC, SECL, IOC and BALCO have fire engines available.
