Two youths arrested for smuggling Mahua liquor on Avenger bike
Raigarh. Chakradharnagar police took strict action against illegal liquor smuggling and arrested two youths carrying liquor on an Avenger motorcycle by laying siege near village Lamidarha and Govardhanpur culvert yesterday on Wednesday. Police seized 40 liters of Mahua liquor from their possession, which is estimated to be worth Rs 8,000.
Police station in-charge inspector Prashant Rao had received information from an informer that two youths were going to sell illegal Mahua liquor from village Regada towards Raigarh. On receiving the information, a police team under the leadership of head constable Samund Rankar was sent for immediate action. The team reached the place mentioned by the informer and laid siege and stopped the Avenger motorcycle (CG 07 AX 7121) and interrogated the youths riding it. The arrested youths identified themselves as Sushil Sarathi (22), resident of TV Tower, Chhote Atramuda, Thana Chakradharnagar, and Gulshan Sarathi (26), resident of Kalmidipa, Thana Kotrarod, District Raigarh. During police investigation, 40 liters of Mahua liquor was recovered from them from a black tube kept in a plastic bag, which they were carrying for sale. Police seized the liquor and the motorcycle used in illegal smuggling on the spot. Necessary legal action was taken by registering a case against both the accused under section 34(2), 59(a) of the Excise Act under crime number 64/2025 in Thana Chakradharnagar.
Inspector Prashant Rao, Head Constable Samund Rankar, Constable Chandrakumar Banjare, Minketan Patel and lady constable Anita Beck played an important role in this action. Chakradharnagar Police is continuing the action by running a campaign against illegal liquor smuggling.
