Himachal: Electricity supply of 197 defaulters cut off

Himachal Pradesh: The State Electricity Board has temporarily disconnected the power supply of 197 defaulters in Teesa subdivision. This action was taken against them for not paying the outstanding bills. Before the action of the board, 160 defaulters had paid the dues of Rs 32 lakh after receiving warnings. Earlier, the board had identified 357 defaulters in the subdivision, who owed a total of Rs 54 lakh. When the officials arrived to disconnect their power connections, 160 consumers immediately paid their dues. However, the remaining 197 consumers failed to do so, due to which their connections were temporarily disconnected. Assistant Engineer Amit Thakur said that if these defaulters do not pay their dues soon, their power supply will be disconnected permanently. To restore the power connection, the consumer will have to pay his outstanding bill and a reconnection fee of Rs 250. The official said that the State Electricity Board will continue to issue notices and take strict action against those who do not pay on time.
