CG: EVM demo organised for media representatives

Under the direction of Collector and District Election Officer Kartikeya Goyal, an EVM demo demonstration was organized for media representatives in the Collectorate hall today under the Urban Body Election-2025. On this occasion, Joint Collector Rakesh Kumar Golcha, Deputy Collector and Nodal Officer Election Sameer Bada were present. Master Trainer Rajesh Daniel and Vikas Ranjan Sinha, while giving information in the EVM demo demonstration, said that voting is to be done with EVMs in all urban bodies. This time M2 type machines will be used in the election, in which only control unit and ballot unit will be used. At the same time, due to the large number of candidates for the post of councilor in wards number 24, 25, 36, 40, 42 and 47 of Municipal Corporation Raigarh, two BUs will be used instead of one. While giving information about EVM, he said that the electronic voting machine being used by the State Election Commission in the election of local urban bodies of the district is a multi-mode, multi-location EVM in which a voter can vote twice for both the posts for the candidates of Mayor/Chairman and Councilor.
While giving information about the control unit, the two master trainers said that the control unit has four parts. These include display section, candidate section, result section and ballot section. Similarly, regarding the ballot unit, it was told that there are 16 buttons in the ballot unit. The last (number 16) button is the end button. Only the control unit will be brought to the counting room for counting of votes. Regarding the EVM voting process, the master trainer said that after confirmation of the authenticity of the voter by polling officer number 1, polling officer number 2 will take the relevant entry and signature in the voter register. Similarly, polling officer number 3 will issue the vote by pressing the ballot button on the CU. Due to which the red bulb on CU and green bulb on BU will light up in the voting compartment. After that the voter can vote. For the post of Mayor or Chairman, the voter will have to vote by pressing the open button in front of the candidate of his choice in the white ballot label, a short beep sound will be heard to confirm this. Similarly, for the post of councilor, the voter will have to vote by pressing the open button in front of the candidate of his choice in the pink label. A long beep sound will be heard to confirm this, which will mean that the voting is complete. During this, media representatives also cleared their doubts related to the voting process.
