Three killed, one critical after ambulance carrying dead body hits tipper
BHADRAK/BALASORE: In a tragic incident, three persons including two members of a family were killed and another sustained critical injuries after the ambulance in which they were taking the body of a deceased kin home from Cuttack, hit a dumper near Maitapur Chowk on NH-16 in Bhadrak, on Saturday.
The victims have been identified as 33-year-old Himansu Jena and his brother-in-law Sudhanshu Dhal of Palasia village in Bhograi, and the ambulance driver Dilip Singh. Jena’s mother Sabitri, who sustained critical injuries in the mishap, was initially taken to Bhadrak district headquarters hospital and later shifted to SCB MCH after her condition deteriorated.
As per sources, Jena’s father Dibakar, a TB patient, was undergoing treatment at SCB medical college and hospital in Cuttack. He reportedly lost his life while undergoing treatment on Friday night. The family was taking his body home when the incident took place during the early morning hours of the day.
