KSU leader brutally beaten up by masked gang in Kannur: admitted to hospital

Kerala: A masked gang brutally attacked a KSU leader at the Thalassery Palayadu campus of Kannur University. The victim was Bitul Balan, a second year law student and KSU Kozhikode district secretary. She was seriously injured and admitted to the Thalassery Indira Gandhi Cooperative Hospital.
The incident took place around 1.30 am today. KSU activists said that a masked group of about ten people barged into Bitul’s house and beat him with deadly weapons. The group came armed with an iron rod and a bicycle chain. They also said that the group fled from the hostel after the attack that lasted for a few minutes. There is no problem between student organisations at the Palayadu campus at the moment. Atulunam lives with students, including SFI activists. Some people were beaten up without knowing who they were. The attack was unprovoked and it is suspected to be a revenge for the clashes in Thrissur Mala, KSU State vice-president P. Muhammed Shammas said.
