Ludhiana: Three people caught by police with 200 grams of heroin

Ludhiana: The crime branch of Ludhiana police has arrested three people and claimed to have seized 200 grams of heroin from their possession. The suspects have been identified as Lakhwinder Singh Gandhi (29), a resident of Bhattian, Ajay Kumar (24) and Vijay Kumar (23), residents of Amaltas Enclave. In a statement issued, ADCP (Crime) Amandeep Singh Brar said that on January 25, Crime Branch in-charge Inspector Rajesh Kumar received information that the suspects were involved in heroin smuggling. After confirming the information, the police raided and arrested them from Railway Colony with heroin. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act and further investigation has been started. The ADCP said that the police will also inquire about the properties or vehicles purchased by the suspects with drug money and they will be seized. Lakhwinder has a case of snatching registered by Salem Tabri police in 2022, while Vijay has seven cases registered by Malerkotla, SBS Nagar and Ludhiana police, most of which are theft. Ajay has no criminal history yet.

Woman among 2 arrested with drug money, heroin

In another incident, Police Division 8 and Kailash police outpost arrested two people and recovered Rs 2.90 lakh drug money and 14 grams of heroin from them. They have been identified as Gaurav Makkar alias Sunny, a resident of Kundanpuri, and Sonia alias Nachi, a resident of Salem Tabri. ASI Sukhjinder Singh said in a statement that Gaurav was apprehended on January 25 and 10 grams of heroin was recovered from him. On the disclosure of the suspect, Sonia was also apprehended and 4 grams of heroin and drug money worth Rs 2.90 lakh was seized from her. Both have a criminal history. Gaurav has a snatching case registered against him in Police Station Division 8, while Sonia has nine cases of drug smuggling registered against her. Now the police will investigate their properties made from drug money.
