Contractor’s leg broke, 6 workers also injured due to centering collapse

Jashpur. Centering fell during the construction of the church this morning. 6 workers were seriously injured in the accident. A major accident took place at the North Western GEL Church in Bandarchunwa of Jashpur district on Tuesday morning around 11.10 am. Six workers were seriously injured when centering fell during the casting of the roof. Among the injured, contractor Shakeel Khan (resident of Ambikapur) has a broken leg, while other workers have suffered fractures in the waist and hands and legs.

At the time of the accident, about 50 workers were working on the roof, but the workers working below got caught in the debris. Local eyewitness Sahun Toppo said that the injured were immediately sent to a private hospital in Kunkuri with the help of an ambulance. The injured were first taken to the government hospital in Kunkuri, but due to lack of emergency room and dresser there, they were referred to Jashpur. This problem has been persisting in the government hospital Kunkuri for a long time.

This accident has exposed the ignorance of safety measures during construction work and the poor state of health services in the area. The demand for action against those responsible is increasing.
