Many people including a businessman were cheated of Rs 2 crores by promising 2 times profit

Maharashtra: A case has been registered against three persons from Kolhapur for duping several people of about Rs 2 crore 31 lakh by promising to give double profits in a year if they invest money in a business. Samadhan Hire (resident Ashwini Society, Nashik) is a businessman and had developed friendly relations with Nitesh Kumar Baldawa of Kolhapur. Baldawa lured Hire to invest money in the business. Since he trusted Baldawa, Hire told his friends about it. Nitesh Kumar Baldawa, Durga Baldawa (both Azad Road, Jaisinghpur, District Kolhapur) and their accomplice Nazim Momin (resident Bagal Chowk, Kolhapur) together met Hire and his friends at a hotel on Nashik Road.

They gave them information about the business. Trusting Baldawa, Hire’s friends deposited Rs 1 crore 90 lakh in his various bank accounts. The incident took place between December 2023 and January 25, 2024. Meanwhile, the suspects took Rs 2 crore 31 lakh from Heer’s friends and relatives from time to time. After that, when Heer’s friends asked for the money, the suspects said that they would double the amount in just one year in return for this money. We three have benefited many people a lot, so we will do the same for you. You will also get 15 percent return on your money. We will invest this money somewhere else and deposit the profits from it in your bank account every day, promising to return more money. Initially, Baldawa returned some money within three months. When the rest of the money was demanded, the suspects gave evasive answers. Later, they also stopped answering mobile phone calls. Realizing that they had been cheated, Heer and his friends lodged a complaint against the three at the Nashik Road police station and a case of cheating was registered.
