Ghatkopar billboard accident case: No bail for accused Arshad Khan
Maharashtra: Businessman Arshad Khan, prime accused in the Ghatkopar billboard crash case in May last year, was denied bail by a sessions court on Wednesday. Khan was absconding for seven months and was arrested from Lucknow in late December. Additional sessions judge Sachin Pawar rejected Khan’s bail plea. Khan, while seeking bail, had claimed that he has been implicated in the case due to political pressure even though he was not named in the original complaint. He has no connection with Ego Media Pvt Ltd, which put up the huge billboard, or the government agency that granted permission for the billboard. He has also been accused of colluding with the police commissioner to obtain the required permission for the billboard. However, the investigating agency has not charged the concerned official with an offence. Hence, Khan had claimed in his application that the investigation in the case was biased.
