Pune also has a ‘Cyber Lab’, state-of-the-art system for investigating cyber crimes
Maharashtra: The rate of cyber crime is increasing in the city. The challenge before the police is to catch cyber thieves. There is a plan to start a cyber lab in Pune on the lines of Navi Mumbai to investigate cyber crimes. Efforts are being made in this regard and a proposal in this regard will be sent to the Home Department soon, said Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar. Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar reviewed the annual crime statistics in the city on Thursday. He gave information about the increasing cyber crimes in the city and the measures being taken by the police. National level investigation agencies are trying to prevent cyber crimes.
The police have issued instructions from time to time regarding cyber crimes. He said that an appeal has been made not to fall into the greed of thieves. A cyber lab has been started in Navi Mumbai to investigate cyber crimes in Mumbai and surrounding areas. Like Navi Mumbai, efforts will be made to start a cyber lab in Pune as well. A proposal in this regard will be sent to the Home Department. There is a need to build a cyber police station in Pune in line with the increasing cyber crimes. Investigation is underway in this regard. Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said that currently a cyber police station is functioning in Shivajinagar police headquarters.
