Ludhiana: Doctor attacked with sharp weapons, money and mobile stolen

Ludhiana: A brutal robbery incident has left a healthcare worker Vinod Maurya severely injured and now unable to speak properly. The incident took place on January 16 when he was returning home from his private clinic in Giaspura. According to eyewitnesses, around seven miscreants surrounded Dr Maurya, threw him off his motorcycle and attacked him with sharp-edged weapons in the middle of the road. The miscreants thrashed Maurya, broke his fingers and hit him on the jaw, head and eye. The victim suffered serious injuries, including a broken jaw and a head injury.
The miscreants snatched Rs 6,000 and a mobile from him before fleeing the scene. Maurya is currently admitted in a private hospital in an unconscious state, where he is undergoing treatment. He is yet to record his statement. The police have so far failed to arrest the suspects despite the incident being captured in CCTV footage, which has gone viral. ASI Mewa Singh said police teams are working on the case and examining CCTV footage to identify the miscreants. However, the case will be registered only after Maurya’s statement is recorded. There is an atmosphere of fear in the area due to this incident. There is pressure on the police to arrest the criminals. Local people are demanding immediate action from the police so that such incidents do not happen in future.
