Punjab: DC arrested two drug smugglers

Punjab: Muktsar Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Tripathi today claimed that he caught two drug peddlers at a rickshaw stand outside the District Red Cross Park on Kotkapura Road and seized some banned pills, capsules and poppy husk from their possession. Speaking to The Tribune, Rajesh Tripathi said, “I had gone to inspect the rickshaw stand where the district administration had planned to organise a ‘langar’ (community kitchen) tomorrow during the Maghi Mela. Two persons were lying there covered in blankets. When they were searched, about a hundred banned pills, capsules and poppy husk were seized from their possession. I have asked the SSP to take legal action against them. They were later handed over to the police.”
