Kalyan: Two arrested with banned drugs in Bull Market
Maharashtra: The anti-illicit trade action team of Deputy Commissioner of Police has arrested two people with a stock of drugs harmful to the human body and banned by the government. Both of them are residents of Bhoiwada in Kongaon, Kalyan. The Bazar police have started investigating the case to find out from where these two brought these banned drugs and to whom they were going to sell them. Based on the complaint of Constable Rajendra Sonawane of the anti-illicit trade squad of Deputy Commissioner of Police Atul Zende, a case has been registered against these two people under the Drugs and Cosmetics Sale, Dangerous and Restricted Drugs Act at Bazarpet Police Station. Deputy Commissioner of Police Atul Zende has formed various teams to crack down on crime in Kalyan and Dombivali city areas. An action team has been formed against illegal trade.
Four days ago, the action team against illegal trade was patrolling in Kalyan city at night. Then the police team saw two people doing suspicious activities at a place on Fortis Hospital Road in Kalyan Krishi Upaj Mandi Samiti area of Bail Bazar, Kalyan West. The team turned its attention towards them. At that time, both of them tried to escape. The team arrested both of them. The police searched their luggage. In them, they found 40 bottles of medicines containing codeine. The police took information about these medicines. They found that these medicines are banned by the government and are harmful to the human body. These medicines have been manufactured in Himachal Pradesh.
The expiry date of these medicines was to expire in December 2024 and November 2026. The police brought both of them to Bajargai police station. Constable Rajendra Sonawane registered a case against them at Bajargai police station for keeping stock of medicines banned by the government and harmful to the human body and using them for selling. The case has been registered against a 33-year-old woman who is a salaried employee. She lives in Sakharam Sodewali Chawl area in Bhoiwada area of Kalyan West. The other one is a rickshaw driver. She lives in Kongaon near Durgadi bridge. Assistant Police Inspector Tulsiram Rathore has started investigating the case.
