Himachal: Set goals, work hard to achieve them
Himachal Pradesh: Industries, Parliamentary Affairs and Labour & Employment Minister Harsh Vardhan Chauhan assured that the government is committed to providing quality, value-based, vocational and modern education to students across the state. Addressing the gathering at the annual prize distribution function of Government Senior Secondary School, Sadiyar on Thursday, he said the government’s focus is on strengthening the infrastructure of educational institutions. Chauhan stressed that such events not only recognise the achievements of meritorious students but also provide them a platform to showcase their talent in various activities. He urged teachers and parents to inculcate good values in children and promote a drug-free lifestyle, so that they can make a positive contribution to nation building. He said that in the last two years, the state government has filled about 6,000 vacant teaching posts, and sanctioned additional 10,000 teaching posts, focusing on remote areas.
Chouhan reiterated the government’s commitment to the overall development of students, which includes enhancing the infrastructure of educational institutions to support intellectual, mental and physical development. Addressing the students, Chouhan urged them to set clear goals and work hard to achieve them, especially in today’s competitive world. He also expressed pride over the achievements of four girls from Shillai constituency who represented the state at the national level in Kabaddi. During the function, Chouhan announced a grant of Rs 21 lakh for construction of an additional building at Government Senior Secondary School, Sadiyar. He also sanctioned Rs 2 lakh for stage construction, Rs 25,000 for organising cultural programmes and a 50-litre water cooler for the school. Principal Devanand Tomar presented the annual report and honoured Chouhan with a traditional shawl, cap and memento.
Later, Chouhan laid the foundation stone of the Rs 15 crore Salwala-Bhatrod-Satoun road project as well as the Primary Health Centre building at Sataun with an investment of Rs 1.35 crore. Addressing the public at Sataun, he reiterated the government’s commitment to improve essential services like roads, education and healthcare. He also announced a plan to set up a model hospital in each assembly constituency, including one in Shillai, which will have five specialist doctors. Minister Chauhan assured the residents that the vacant posts of doctors and paramedical staff in remote areas of Sirmaur district would be filled soon. He also informed that during the two-year tenure of the government, projects worth Rs 200 crore have been approved in Shillai assembly constituency, including the construction of a mini secretariat being built in Shillai at a cost of Rs 5 crore.
