Punjab: Wanted drug smuggler shot dead in America

Punjab: International drug smuggler Sunil Yadav alias Golia, a native of Wariam Kheda village in Abohar, was shot dead in California, USA. In a post on social media, Rohit Godara of Goldie Brar gang has taken responsibility for the shootout to avenge the encounter of Ankit Bhadu. The veracity of the viral post is yet to be ascertained. Rohit Godara is a notorious criminal of Rajasthan and claims to be associated with Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldie Brar gang. Ankit of Sherewala village in Abohar was killed in an encounter near Zirakpur on 7 February 2019. Sunil had a case of heroin smuggling registered against him in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. He was later declared a fugitive. He is said to have fled to Dubai and later to the US on a fake passport. His father Pawan Kumar was serving in the Indian Postal Department. Sunil had no contact with his family for the last several years.
The National Intelligence Agency had raided his ancestral house several times. Sunil was considered a big player in drug smuggling from Pakistan. In the post, Rohit Godara claimed that Sunil was the one who got Ankit Bhadu killed in a police encounter. He alleged that Sunil fled to America with the help of the police. Six criminal cases are registered against Sunil Yadav in the police stations of Abohar, Sriganganagar and Hanumangarh. The first case was registered on 11 April 2015 in Khuiyan Sarwar police station of Abohar under sections 341, 323, 506, 148 and 149 of the IPC. On 28 March 2019, the local court convicted him. On 7 December 2017, a murder case was registered in Lalgarh police station of Sriganganagar, Rajasthan. On 15 December 2017, a case was registered in Wahabwala police station, in which he was later acquitted by the Abohar court. On 16 March last year, a case was registered against him under the NDPS Act in Hanumangarh police station of Rajasthan. The last case registered in the area was on May 6 last year at Anupgarh police station in Rajasthan under the Arms Act.
